What's New with Evan

Evan now has 3 teeth... two on the bottom and one on top. The fourth tooth on top is just starting to come through. Mommy Alisson called me tonight and said, "We just videotaped Evan saying "Da Da." Daddy Terence said, "Say Da-Da," and Evan said, "Da Da." Just last week I told Terence that I thought I heard Evan say Da-Da in his rambling of sounds. Terence was excited to hear that. Imagine how tickled he is to have Evan say "Da Da!!!" Evan visited with some of our neighbors tonight... Mr. Dick, the two Miss Kathys, Miss Laurie and Mr. Kent. He charmed them all. Evan was very interested in watching Pappy G mow the lawn. He really liked the lawn mower. Evan had a cold and fever 101.5 yesterday, however, today he has no fever and the runny nose is much better. I could go on and on about our grandson, Evan, but I will stop for now. We praise God for this wonderful gift given to us!!!!

Babies Develop Quickly

I am so amazed by how fast babies learn new skills. (I guess it is easy to forget since our baby girl will be 27 years old). It was just two days ago that Evan was sitting up by himself with my being close in case he fell over. Evan now sits and plays with toys. Here he is at Grammie and Pappy G's house playing with "Baby Einstein" toys.... of course. I love seeing him develop and acquire new skills, however, he is growing up too fast.

Grammie's Favorite Outfit

Evan is wearing an outfit that I just had to buy for him. In the picture you may see a telephone. The writing on the outfit says... That's It!! I'm calling Grandma!
Isn't that tooo cute. Also, Evan is playing differently with rattles these days. He definitely is exploring them in new ways.

Evan Sitting

Evan can now sit by himself. Although, Grammie is close to him in the pictures (in case he tumbles over), Evan is sitting up independently. What a big boy!!!!

Evan and Pappy G

Evan was very ready to play as soon as Pappy G came home. Evan and Pappy G have soooo much fun together.

Evan's 6 Month Check Up

Today I got to go with Alisson to Evan's 6 month check up. I was so touched by Alisson inviting me to go with them. I was very impressed by all of the information given to Alisson. Example: Sunscreen and types of bug repellant to use. Evan weighs 16lbs.3oz. and is 27 and a half inches long. He is tall and lean. 90th percentile for height. Evan has his 2 bottom teeth and his top teeth are starting. Evan showed off today. He laughed when the nurse touched his belly-- he is ticklish on his belly. He smiled, laughed, talked, followed the light left to right and up and down. When given the tongue depressor, Evan held on to it in his right hand and then put it in his left. The nurse practitioner said, "He just transferred it which is 7 months." I asked, He is doing fine, right? She answered, "Yes" and he is cute, too." Evan had to get three shots. I never have heard him cry so loudly and turn red. He was very upset!!!! As soon as his Mommy picked him up though, he was fine again. We are so thankful to God for Evan and his continued healthy development.

Evan is Almost 6 Months Old

I took this picture of Evan in his crib at our house. He was just fed and changed. That is why he looks so contented. EVan is wearing his Property of Mom Forever outfit that we gave to Alisson on Mother's Day. Evan is definitely a little person now. He jabbers a lot and loves to be outside. I am introducing him to the song As the Deer Panteth at the Water online.(One of my favorite songs) He sits on my lap and stares at the deer while I sing to him. It is too precious.

Evan's First Tooth

Evan was with me today for a couple of hours. He had been really drooling (which he has been doing for the past month) so I put my finger in his mouth to check if he was teething. To my surprise, I felt a front bottom tooth. When his Mommy picked him up, I asked, "Do you know what's new with Evan?" Alisson asked, "What?" I said, "Check his mouth on the bottom." She was surprised!!! Evan is growing up so fast.

Mother's Day Weekend

Hi all,
Saturday, May 9th we had Evan and J with us. Alisson, Terence and M went to a Cleveland Indians baseball game. The boys were with us from 3:30pm to 2:00am Sunday. We had a great time. Jeremy helped Pappy G make pizza. Jeremy loved the tomatoes on the pizza. Little Evan had strained carrots. Evan went to bed at 8:30pm. He coughed at 1:45am. I went in to check on him. He was wide awake and smiled at me. I changed his diaper and he happily kicked his feet. He was wide awake when Alisson picked the boys up at 2:00am. Then, on Mother's Day, Evan and all of his family came to celebrate Mother's Day with Grammie. What a special day!!!! We recalled that last Mother's Day, Alisson was having morning sickness (all day) and she did not eat much then. This year, Alisson enjoyed the filet mignon cooked on the grill. Pappy G made Evan's Great-great Aunt Marge's special hot fudge sauce for the sundaes we made for dessert. I have not gotten in the habit of carrying pictures of Evan with me, however, Terence, Alisson, M, J and Evan gave me a tiny digital picture frame to carry on my keychain. It has 92 pictures on it of the whole family. Very nice!!!!!

Evan in Motion

I captured this picture of Evan just as he was beginning to roll over. I have so much fun playing with him and of course, kissing him a lot. Evan tolerates his kissing Grammie very well.

Evan and Tummy Time

Here is Evan at our house doing "tummy time." He likes doing it now and plays with toys and looks all around.

Evan at 5 Months

Hi Everyone,
This is Evan. I am 5 months old. I can roll over from my tummy to my back and from my back to my tummy. I am starting to get my balance and strength to sit up. Grammie only uses two fingers to help me sit up. I really like looking outside at the birds, the flowers, trees and grass. On Saturday, Grammie walked me all around her yard and showed me the pretty red tulips. My Mommy has been feeding me rice cereal for a couple of weeks. The first time I ate it, I got more on my shirt than in my tummy. I am doing much better now. Mommy has added peas with my rice cereal. I like it. I like to laugh at my Mommy, Daddy and Pappy G. I cuddle with my Grammie and read books with her and she sings to me. I have a lot of fun toys to play with at home and at Grammie and Pappy G's. Grammie told me that when I get bigger she is going to always have cookies for me at her house-- chocolate chip, peanut butter, oatmeal raisin and sugar cookies. I don't quite know what that means, but I think it is good.
Love to all,
Baby Evan

Evan in His Camo

Here are pictures of happy Evan and then a picture showing how he can quickly become unhappy. He looks so cute in his camo jacket.

Evan Likes His Thumb

Evan is so comforted by his thumb. I think this is a darling picture of little Evan.

Evan with Grammie and Pappy G

On Thursday afternoon I had Evan with me for an hour before Pappy G. came home. I did Tummy Time with Evan, read him a book, played with him and rocked him to sleep. I loved my time with him. As soon as Pappy G came home, Evan got into the play mode. Here are 2 pictures of Evan laughing at and responding to Pappy G's silliness.

Evan's First Easter

We had a wonderful Easter at Alisson and Terence's home. Evan was a cutie. This is a picture of Evan with his Great Aunt Bon. Grammie even let Aunt Bon rock Evan to sleep. Grammie showed her how to pat his little bottom. Aunt Bon said that Evan likes to have his feet rubbed, too.

Evan is 4 Months Old

Wow!!! Time flies. Evan is 4 months old. He had his four month check up with the pediatrician on Tuesday, March 24. Evan weighs 14lbs.12oz. and is in the 50th percentile for weight. His length is 26 1/2 inches. Evan is in the 90th percentile for height. He is developing just fine. Praise God!!!!
Evan is now rolling from his back to his side. He loves to play with his hands. He is just discovering his feet. When lying on his back, Evan kicks his feet on the floor and moves around. Yesterday, he was almost off of his quilt and he had started in the center. Evan plays with toys and "talks" as he is playing. I think he said "Hi' the other day. (I know it's his Grammie saying this, however, it sounded like 'Hi.)"
I have realized that Evan thinks of me as the nurturing, loving, kissing grandparent and Pappy G. is the fun one. Pappy G came home and he said Hi Evan. Evan smiled immediately and laughed as Pappy G played with him. Evan cracks up at Pappy G and he cuddles with me. That's OK with me.... I love to hold him and rock him to sleep. Evan has his own personality. He makes us laugh. We so enjoy time with him!!!

Evan Playing Part 2

Evan definitely plays with his toys now. He, also, thinks his hands are pretty cool, too. It is sooo cute to watch him play with his hands.

Evan Playing

Evan was at our house playing on Sunday afternoon. Here is Evan and Grammie playing around on the floor together. He looks so serious in these pictures. Pappy G was trying to get Evan to laugh or smile. Evan usually laughs and smiles for his Pappy G.

What;s New With Evan

Evan was with Grammie this afternoon for 4 hours. I noticed that he blows bubbles now. He is, also, bringing his knees to his chest in preparing to start rolling over from back to stomach. He is losing his hair on top and in the back. If he loses his hair, Evan will look like a bald Zach or Alisson as a baby. Zach and Alisson had no hair for a long time. Evan still has blue eyes. Evan is really a lot of fun now as he is developing his little personality and laughs at things Grammie and Pappy G. do.

Our Little Bear

I have been wanting to get a picture of Evan in this bear pram for a long time, however, whenever, he comes to our house, I am so eager to get him out of the carseat and hold him.
We call him our little bear. Isn't he too cute??!!!

Evan and Pappy G

Evan now sees in color and looks at the TV. Here is Evan sitting on the couch with Pappy G. Evan does not like the black and white movies Pappy G watches. Here they are watching PBS Noggin. He, also, focuses more on the pictures of books read to him. He is growing up too fast but it is wonderful to see his development.

Handsome Evan

This is just Evan being cute. He is wearing the outfit Grammie and Pappy G got him for Valentine's Day. It looks like a baseball outfit and of course, Pappy G thinks it looks like a Cleveland Indians outfit.

Evan and His Hands

Evan has discovered his hands. He tries to stuff his whole hand into his mouth. He has not learned that he only needs his thumb to pacify him. So silly!!!!

Evan Playing Part 2

Here is Evan playing in his bouncy seat at our house.

Evan Playing

So sorry that I have not updated the Blog for awhile. We had the interior of our home painted and I could not get to the computer. Get ready to see a lot of pictures of Evan.
Evan is enjoying playing with the water mat that Grammie and Pappy G got him for Valentine's Day.

Evan's First Slumber Party

On Saturday, Evan was with us for his first sleepover. Little J had been sick all week. So, Alisson and Terence took him to the emergency room to check for dehydration. Well, J was dehydrated so they admitted him over night. Alisson and Terence wanted to be with J because he was so scared. So, Grammie and Pappy G offered to keep Evan and M overnight. We are so thankful for our good friends and neighbors Dick and Kathy for lending us a crib when Evan was first born. It came in handy last night. Alisson brought over the monitor and set it up along with the infant movement monitor on the crib. Of course, Grammie did not trust the monitors and checked baby Evan many times during the night to see if he was breathing. He is such a good sleeper. He slept from 10:00pm straight through to 7am. In the morning, Evan did a first for me as little boys do. I was changing his diaper and he started to squirt me!!! I was so surprised. Evan just grinned. I laughed and then he did, too. He really is a good baby and pretty laid back. I still remember a trip to Iowa with Zach and he would not sleep in a strange bed in the hotel as a baby. We drove around Iowa to put him asleep because he would always fall asleep in his carseat. Thank goodness Evan was very comfortable here. J was discharged this morning and Evan and M went home around 10:45 am. We all prayed frequently for J's healing and for the doctor's skill and wisdom in caring for him. Praise God!!!

Here is Evan with his
Great-Grandma"K"

Great-Grandma loved holding him on this very special day in Evan's life.

Evan's Dedication

On Sunday, Feb. 15th, Evan Michael had his dedication at his Mommy and Daddy's church. In this picture, Evan's Daddy, Terence, is telling the congregation about the miracle Evan is. It was a beautiful service. Evan's family that attended included Grammie and Pappy G., Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa K, Grandpa Dan, Grandma Michele, Great-Aunt Marsha, Mommy, Daddy, M and J.

Evan at Our House

Here are couple photos of Evan at our house on Thursday, Feb. 5th. Grammie had him all to herself from 3:30-7pm. What fun!!!!! I did not want Evan's daddy to take him home. His daddy missed Evan though so I had to give him up. Evan is such a cutie!!

Evan and Grammie

This is how Grammie loves to cuddle with little Evan.

Evan and Pappy G

Evan and Pappy G love to watch football together or just play on his Tummy Time quilt.

2 Month Check-Up

Evan had his 2 month check up today with the pediatrician. He now weighs 12lbs. 12oz. and is 24 inches long. Evan is in the 50th percentile for weight and the 95th percentile for height. The doctor put him on his tummy and he lifted his head up. Evan, also, cooed and smiled at the nurse and doctor. He showed off!!! It is hard to believe that Evan is already two months old!! Evan received three shots today. With my background in special education and having served on an autism task force, I am very cautious with vaccinations even though there is no evidence that autism is caused by vaccines. Alisson talked with the pediatrician about this and she was told that the MMR vaccine given at 1 year was the one in question. The MMR vaccine no longer has mercury in it. Alisson, however, is going to be careful about getting the shots/vaccines more spread apart.

Praise God for this wonderful gift to us!!!!!

Evan Loves to Play

This is another of my favorite photos. Evan loves to play and interact with us. He gives us such happiness!!!

Evan Is Now Smiling

Evan has been smiling for his Daddy for a couple of weeks and smiling when he is in his bouncy seat. When he was with Grammie and Pappy G on Sunday, Evan smiled for us the first time!! I started to get tears when he looked right at me and smiled. What a joy!!!

Cute Evan

I just had to share one of my very favorite pictures of Evan wearing one of my favorite outfits. Stores have such cute clothes for boys now. When Zach was a baby, the options were very limited for boys. Now, everything is so cute for boys, too.

Evan Doing "Tummy Time"

Evan is pictured here doing his
"Tummy Time" at Grammie and Pappy G's house. We were so amazed at how well he held his head up. When we showed the picture to his Mommy, she said, "Wow, and he isn't even upset!!?" Evan usually holds his head up when he wants to be finished with "tummy time" and is starting to get upset. He is very contented and focused in this picture. The photo was taken just after changing his diaper. As you can see, Evan doesn't have his pants on yet. He likes to be free!!! Evan, also, loves to have his diaper changed.... he likes his clothes off!!!!

Evan and Grammie

Grammie and Pappy G had little Evan at our house Saturday night. Evan's Mommy and Daddy took Mackenzie and Jeremy sledding. We had 9 inches of snow!!! I'm sure they had fun sledding, but, Grammie and Pappy G had a lot of fun with Evan. Here is Evan just hanging out with Grammie. He is so alert these days!!! I am so thankful that we can share time with Evan. Babies change so quickly. He will be seven weeks old on Tuesday, Jan. 13th. Doesn't he look so cute in his jeans??!!

Happy Little Evan

Here is our darling grandson Evan as he is playing in his bouncy seat. He really likes it and is very contented in it. He lets everyone know when it stops bouncing and he wants more.

Pictures of Evan

These photos were taken just prior to Evan's bath. We were trying to get a cute photo to put in the Baby Brag section of the Sentinel Tribune. We got several pictures of this darling little boy!!!
